ankle boot outfits

Over the last few years, fashion has definitely taken a more edgy turn. People are prepared to wear outfits now that they never would have dared to wear a few years ago. Thanks to the growth in fashion TV shows and self-styled fashion experts like the UK’s Gok Wan, people are experimenting a lot more with what they wear, putting items of clothing together that should not work in theory but do in practice. So where does the ankle boot fit in with all this?

Originally popular in the 80’s, the ankle boot is now making a huge comeback, thanks in part to the growing appetite amongst fahionistas for all things retro. Look through the pages of any celebrity magazine and I guarantee you will find at least one image-conscious celeb sporting a pair.

Of course, to get the most out of your ankle boots, you have to wear them with the right outfits. Bodies come in all shapes and sizes and not every outfit will go with every body shape/size. Likewise, some people may be able to pull off a certain look that others would frankly struggle with.

Most outfits can actually look good if worn with an air of confidence. As the old saying goes, it’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it that counts. But there are some outfits that can look particularly good when worn with a cool little pair of ankle boots, so let’s take a look at a few of them.

First of all, a pair of skinny jeans is the natural partner to accompany your ankle boots. It’s very difficult to get this pairing wrong in fact. For a casual but trendy and fashionable look, throw on your skinny jeans and tuck them into your ankle boots and you’re all set. Accompany this with a cashmere sweater and/or a leather jacket and you have instant street cred for that rock chic look.

Another great look, if you have the legs for it, is to wear your ankle boots with a short skirt. But to pull this off, you have to get it right. If the skirt is too short ad the heels too high, you’ll just end up looking tarty and cheap, which is never a good thing. so you want the skiirt just a couple of inched above the knee, ideally in some kind of light, flowing material (NOT denim!) and the boots, ideally in sued or brushed leather, should only have a bit of a heel, maybe an inch or so.

And for something really funky, why not wear your ankle boots with a pair of shorts and colorul leggings? This is a really fun and kooky look, especially if you wear a bright top and plenty of accessories. Not for everyone, but if you like to look a bit different and show off the fun side of your character, it can work really well.

So there you have it. Three different outfits that you can put together to get the most out of your ankle boots. The key thing is not to be afraid to experiment when putting your outfits together. And whatever you wear, wear it with pride and with confidence!
